Gundu Hirisave Rama Rao) – Founder Director of the Company is a tenured professor at the Academic Health Center, University of Minnesota, and a leading scientist entrepreneur. He retired from the University and is currently an Emeritus Professor. He has moved to Potomac Maryland after retirement. He lives at 12500Park Potomac Ave, Unit 306N, Potomac, Maryland, USA. He obtained his BSc degree with Chemistry, Botany Zoology (1957) followed by BSc (Hons) in Zoology(1958) and MSc in Entomology (1959). He completed his PhD in agriculture entomology at the Kansas State University and specialized in Grain Science Technology. He served a s Professor of Pathology at the University of Minnesota for over four decades.

As an active Founding Board Member, Prof. Rao provides strategic direction and guidance to the Board of Directors of KHMDL.

Prof. Rao is currently advising three professional societies: South Asian Society on Atherosclerosis and Thrombosis, North American Thrombosis Forum, and International Union of Angiology. He is elected fellow of Indian College of Cardiology and Institutions if Engineers, Bengaluru. He is chief Technology Officer of Stelixir Biotechnologies, and Trustee of Institute for Applied Research and Innovation, Bengaluru.

He is working on regulatory issues related to outsourcing of generic drugs, issues related to characterization and development of biologics or biosimilar. He is also working on establishing a research and development platform in Applied Biology and Biotechnology in India for the development of biomarker assays for the early detection of cancer and cardiovascular diseases and hand-held medical devices for monitoring these markers as well as other physiological functions.
